This is the story of the great actor and playwright Eduardo Scarpetta, progenitor of the Scarpetta-De Filippo theatre dynasty. We are in the 20th century and Scarpetta has an extended family. Peppino, Titina and Eduardo, the three illegitimate children are anyhow introduced into the great and magical machine of the theatre, in its great splendor. On the death of their father, the legitimate children divide up all the inheritance, white Titina, Eduardo and Peppino are left with nothing of the money, but they have a special gift, great talent. This is the story of a family wound that turns into art, and of three young people who redeemed themselves with a new theatrical language and a new representation of reality.
Eduardo Castaldo, the set photographer for this wonderful film, directed by Sergio Rubini, reveals movingly:
“When I heard that Fabio Ciancetti was the director of photography, I cheered, because my photos are stolen shots that borrowed the perfect use of his magical light. Having the good fortune to work with a director like Sergio Rubini means learning his idea of theatre, of cinema and photography the actor it has been incredible because he becomes a protagonist trough his gesture and his great passion, Rubini is a Neapolitan at heart”
